The Come Up: for Men:Becoming Better Leaders and Men
Introduction:
In today’s world, leadership skills among men are often assumed but rarely nurtured. Many face journeys filled with obstacles, particularly when starting from backgrounds where opportunities are scarce and economic mobility seems elusive. These challenges affect men from all walks of life, not just those like myself who have felt specific difficulties as a black man. Role models were scarce, and the formal networks I had access to, lacked the mentors who matched my needs. I had to form my own relationships and find unofficial mentors. Eventually, they became lifelong friends and sources of information. It’s why I created The Come Up: For Men, a workbook for all men, to fill the gap in guidance for leadership and personal growth.
The Need for a Guide:
The decline of traditional family structures and an increase in broken homes have left a void in mentoring for many young men. I’ve felt this void personally and realized that a guide tailored to my unique situation was nonexistent. After everything I had learned, I felt I had to write The Come Up : For Men to bridge this gap. It offers hands-on tools for self-growth, leadership, and being the fathers, husbands and advocates our families and communities need.
My Journey:
A Path of Growth: Years of work, mistakes, and journaling led me to recognize patterns and develop strategies that helped me move further in my career. The Come Up: For Men emerged from these experiences, each activity tried and proven, reflecting real-life triumphs and setbacks.
Essential Tools for Every Man:
- Leadership Skills: These aren’t innate; they’re cultivated. I’ll guide you through it.
- Personal Development: Break barriers and build the new you, no matter your starting point.
- Community Involvement: Learn to be the change-maker you needed when you were younger.
- Practical Guidance: Engage with real-world exercises that have worked for me and can work for you.
- A Universal Call to Growth: No matter your background or how rough life has been, The Come Up: For Men can resonate with you. It’s not just a workbook; it’s a lifeline for men who aspire to something greater. It can be a path to becoming better leaders and men all around.
Conclusion:
The Come Up: For Men is a testament to resilience, growth, and triumph. It’s a roadmap I’ve created for personal and professional growth that I still use when I need to refocus. This isn’t just my story; it’s an invitation to every man to take this journey. Use the tools, see the transformation, and uplift yourself and those around you!
